Postdoctoral Fellow (Ref. 15042708)
[Appointment period: three posts, each for twenty-four months]
The Department of Chinese and Bilingual Studies at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) welcomes aspiring scholars in language sciences to join the Department as Postdoctoral Fellows. Candidates will have the opportunity to work with internationally renowned scholars and join over 100 academic staff members in linguistics and language sciences at the Faculty of Humanities of PolyU, which is ranked 23rd in the world (and 5th in Asia) in linguistics by QS World University Subject Ranking 2014. Multiple positions are available both at the Department and at the HK PolyU-PKU Research Centre on Chinese Linguistics (RP2U2). RP2U2 is a collaborative research centre set up jointly in 2009 by PolyU and Peking University. It has established offices at both universities, and is devoted to research and applications in the areas of Chinese Linguistics. The Centre’s primary focus is on conducting academic research, which includes joint research projects in collaboration with a large number of governmental organizations in China and Hong Kong. The Centre greatly supports and enhances research, helping to further the development of postgraduate research conducted by students from both institutions in their relevant disciplines.
Duties
Each appointee, under the guidance of the Supervisor, will assist in conducting research in any one of the disciplines as covered by the Department.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
(a) a PhD degree or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution and must have no more than three years of post-qualification experience at the time of application (those expecting to obtain a PhD degree within six months by the end of May 2015 may also be considered); and
(b) a proven track record in high quality research as evidenced by publications and other research outcomes.

Remuneration
